Aug 10 2017 (20:55)   Trial run of Coimbatore-Bangalore double decker train conducted

COIMBATORE: Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu's announcement of a direct train between Coimbatore and Bangalore will soon materialize as a trial run of a double-decker train which would link the industrial hub with the IT city was conducted on Thursday morning.
The train, with an engine and three coaches, was run from Thirupathur in Vellore district to Coimbatore. Though the train reached later than scheduled, there were no operational problems, said officials.
Forty five minutes past noon, the engine with three double decker coaches chugged into platform six at Coimbatore Junction, inviting the
attention of onlookers. Many people entered the coaches to inspect the interiors.
"This is the first time that a double decker train is coming to Coimbatore," said Chinnaraju, the station master.
Officials said the three coaches arrived from Bangalore earlier this week. "We have done the trial run at a speed of 80 kmph, and since it was a double decker train, which is taller and wider, we had to check if there was any overhead traction," said divisional railway manager Hari Shankar Verma. The speed at which the coaches could be pulled by the engine was also checked.
Officials said another trial run would be done on Friday between Coimbatore to Thirupathur at 110kmph. "We will then submit a report to the zonal railway board. If everything goes as per plan, they will ask for more coaches to be sent soon," said Verma.
The exact number of double decker coaches allotted for the train is yet to be fixed by the railway board, said officials. "The number of coaches will initially depend on Bangalore's pit line cleaning facility and capacity as we don't have one that can handle double decker coaches," said a railways spokesperson.
A double decker coach can seat 120 people compared to 73 people that the newer Shatabdis can seat.

Boss, CBE lacks PM facility for LHB as per this report?? Or just washing hands off to avoid PM?. Too difficult for SWR to find early morning slot here at SBC if PM shifted to SBC.

Jul 24 2017 (16:31)   Activists want citizens involved in campaign against Hindi in metro

Several Kannada writers and activists in the city are lending their support to the ‘Namma Metro Hindi Beda’ campaign and looking at ways to involve citizens in the protest against the use of Hindi words in signage at metro stations.
“We are exploring the idea of getting citizens who support the campaign to wear black bands or badges while commuting on Namma Metro,” said Anand Guru from Banavasi Balaga. “It is still a fluid idea. We need to discuss and work out the modalities. Citizens will just be expressing their opinion silently and democratically. We will not be inviting any police action or disrupting any service,” he added.
a press conference on Sunday, activists, writers and playwrights, including P.V. Narayan, Prakash Belawadi and Chandrashekhar Patil, decried the treatment meted out to members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) who were arrested after blackening Hindi signage outside metro stations recently.
Section 153A
They demanded that the cases booked under Section 153A (instigating clash between two communities) of the Indian Penal Code on the KRV members be withdrawn immediately, and also urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to transfer Praveen Sood, City Police Commissioner, for his “excessive action” against the KRV members, besides making the government’s stand on imposition of Hindi clear.
Kannada writer Chandrashekhar Patil said the activists would continue their agitation. Defending the KRV members, he said they had resorted to a symbolic protest and had not disrupted Namma Metro services. Echoing this, Mr. Narayan sought to know why the Centre was imposing Hindi and why other regional languages were not being given the same importance.
Stating that the police filing cases under Section 153A had “dangerous implications,” actor and playwright Prakash Belawadi said the State government was trying to create a divide among citizens. “This is an irresponsible and arrogant action by the government. Why is civil disobedience being treated so harshly?” he asked.
Mr. Guru sought to know why Mr. Siddaramaiah was not insisting on the removal of Hindi signage on Namma Metro, a State government project. “Is it because the State government wants to keep the issue alive and use it politically against the BJP? The NDA government may have sanctioned funds, but a majority of the funding has come from the State government,” he said.
M. Venkataswamy of Samata Sainik Dal, B.R. Bhaskar Prasad from the Federation of Karnataka Dalit Associations, Vasu of Karnataka Janashakti, Samirulla Khan from the Akhila Karnataka Mohamadeeyara Vedike, and Rafael Raj of Akhila Karnataka Catholic Christians Kannada Sangha also attended.

Every year Bengaluru is getting trains to east coast but not a single train to Mumbai. Looks like they are afraid that it will be beneficial to Karnataka, hence they wont run.

Trolling is a harsh word used here. Kerala is a high priority train in this route and Kongu is just a weekly with little lesser priority and absolutely no match for Kerala. Your train will trail Kerala all the way till NZM.
