I have traveled in this train many times. Not good in any term, be it punctuality cleanliness or coach conditions. Earlier this used to be the only train between delhi and mangalore and there was no choice (except rajdhani, which is expensive). Now there are much better trains around. LHS coaches are a must for these kind of long distance trains. arrives at a very odd time at mangalore. Avoid if you can.
You are absolutely right with regards to condition of coaches. I have travelled many times in Ac 2 tier coaches of this train. Its a real pity that AC 2 tier coaches are much older and not at all maintained properly. Even the washrooms are not cleaned at regular intervals. This is the condition of AC 2 tier coaches, cant imagine the condition of sleeper coaches. AC 3 tier coaches are much well maintained than AC 2 tier coaches. Only plus point for this train is the food which is of acceptable standard. Punctuality and cleanliness as you said better to forget the same.
Rightly said. The train is in a sorry state even after LHBfication. Scheduled arrival time at MAJN is in itself late, and delays only make matters worse.
This train desperately needs strict ticket checking by checkers.. Everything is haywire ..people board and deboard reserved compartment at will... Also I sincerely want to request the invisible railway police to severely penalized those smokers who are matter of discomfort to all especially they hijack the toilets and compartment tubes to smoke...water usually runs out due to running taps..and cockroaches n mice infestation we had to bring to notice to staff..But who cares!
update: Amazing i mean simply amazingly vendors pull the emergency brakes and de-board the train at specific isolated location...

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent travel experience on Train No. 20909, specifically in Bogie No. 132784WGSCN. Unfortunately, the journey was marred by a series of issues that significantly affected the overall quality of service provided.
Firstly, the cleanliness of the old bogies was deplorable. The conditions inside the train were substandard, and the lack of proper maintenance was evident. The headrests were filled with dirt and muck, making it uncomfortable for passengers.

Once I have travelled in this train ,,but that was in ICF avatar.
And seeing your feedback , i feel like ICF coaches were way more brilliant than these LHB maintenance standards.
In older ICF coaches , the cleanliness was awesome , Punctuality and speed is same but food and comfort was good.
Food was hot and crispy.

I have also travelled in its ICF avatar in May 2013. At that time, it was awesome and well maintained. But now after its LHB conversion, this train has degraded horribly.

Rake stays at NHLN PF 1 since morning. Cleaning done at day time. Final mopping of floors done by 16.30 hrs, then Rake is locked and stays locked till 21.15 hrs.

one way traverse is more than 2000 kms, still not taken to yard. I heard that the trains which have 4000 km+ return trip are to be taken to yard for secondary maintainance. Then, in return journey to delhi, passengers will be having horrendous time to find an unclogged washroom.
Even now after this many years, the level of cleanliness is excellent even with these old yellow painted ICF coaches. Well done WCR.
This train wins the award for cleanest train of JBP div even with the old ICF rake.
