Attached screen shots of Khammam and Kakinada from Google Maps, both the ss are at same scale. Area wise Kakinada looks bigger and population wise Kakinada has 443028 while Khammam has 313504 according to 2011 census. I have been to both the places, Kakinada is a planned city so most of the stretch I travelled through was entirely similar and looking aesthetically good. While Khammam is of mixed type, few roads are narrow and very much crowded while some areas were having pretty wide roads and smooth traffic. Vehicular moment was almost similar in both the places, equally crowded. Outer areas in Khammam looked pretty impressive with apartments. Overall both the places are quite good although Kakinada has upperhand as it's comparatively bigger and more populated. Why do some railfans behave soo childish ? Khammam is planned with good roads compared to kakinada dont compare ap roads with ts roads i agree may be there is a slight margin of population will be higher i think.

For Khammam to surpass Kakinada in terms of population, there should be many villages around khammam which should be a part of municipal corporation. I don't think there are many such outgrowth hotspots under KMC which can add the necessary population. May be it can get anywhere near 4 to 4.2 lakh but not more than that.
