Panaromic View of Udhampur Station - A perfect picturesque view with huge mountains on the backdrop.
Right at the background is the taxi stand. The building at the centre is the opening into the station premises while the one just right to it is the GRP Office.
Right at the middle building, one can see the rightmost portion covered with

glass. That is the security check where the luggage are frisked. One has to lift every bag in order to put in the machine.
The building leads to the FOB which one has to climb down to get into the platforms.
The station has 2 retiring rooms (Non-AC). Charges of which are 400/- for 24 hours and 300/- for 12 hours. The waiting room for lower classes are located to the left of this entrance while for the upper class is to the right.
Just to add some points:
1) Security is pretty tight inside as well as outside.
2) Two ATM's are located outside the station premises; SBI and J&K Bank.
3) The Taxi/Auto stand is located bang opposite to the station building.
4) Food options are pretty limited. All you can expect are biscuits, cakes, water and cold drinks.
5) The SM Room is located to the left of the main entrance.
6) The guy sitting at a room just left to the Waiting Room for lower classes has the chart for each and every train ex-UHP with him. If in doubt, one can approach him to verify the final status of your PNR.
7) There is a slope-way leading from PF 1 straight to a level above in front of the entrance.
8) Not much coolies hanging around.

There is a misconception about online booking of retiring room. A passenger seeking accommodation in retiring rooms can do so at the time of reserving their journey ticket itself, for eg.:-
.
1. A passenger reserving tickets at Madurai or New Delhi for journey to Chennai can book retiring room for Chennai at Madurai or New Delhi itself by quoting PNR No. of the ticket to the matron of the retiring room of the respective stationsThe passenger seeking accommodation at Retiring Room at various stations can do so by approaching and quoting the

PNR number to the matron of Retiring Room of the station at the time of reserving the journey ticket. This facility is open to all passengers 90 days in advance as applicable in normal reservation by trains.
.
2. In case, the passenger cancels the journey, the retiring room reservation can also be cancelled and refunds will be made as per extant rules on par with reservation of tickets.
.
3. This system also enables the passengers to know the vacancy position of retiring roomsat various location where on line booking was already been commissioned. This facility is extended initially to 18 stations in Indian Railway including 3 stations namely Chennai Central, Madurai and Rameswaram. This will be extended to major railway stations shortly.
