A:Problem of Change for Cash transaction is solved. If ATM withdrawal limit has exceeded than free transaction offered one can book by Debit card.He/She saves around INR 20 of withdrawal charges as Debit Card charges are ZERO for most banks at PRS counters.
4)Are there any advantages Paying by Card at PRS than booking online?
A:Booking Online tickets by Debit Card of any bank attracts a nominal charge of 0.25% to 1% of the amount.Whereas through PRS charges for Maximum Debit Card are NIL.Booking by Credit Card attracts a charge of 1.65% to 1.9% +18% GST on the Service Charge whereas at PRS it is Flat 1.77% .Some bank do not charge for Credit Card as well.
5) For Cancellation procedure and Refund Process and Refund timelines you can refer to the blog whose link is given above.
Note:Booking through Card at PRS is best when one is confirm to travel on a particular date as Modification is not permitted in these tickets. As of now only Cancellation is allowed.Booking through Card takes a bit longer as RRN No etc details are to be fed into the system for Refund purpose which will be printed on the ticket so it is best when you have time to buy your ticket and is not an emergency ticket which gets over within seconds.

Digital Payments in Railways:With RBI reducing MDR(Merchant Discount Rates) for Debit Card purchase on POS below ₹2000 and for all other amounts for all merchant categories specially for merchants whose turnover is less than 20 lakhs and Government agencies W.E.F today (Published in various news paper on 06/12/2017) and Railways introducing BHIM app payments and to offer discount for Cashless transactions (Published in various news paper on 07/12/2017 and later) the Card payment is likely to increase in PRS and UTS counters. For refund of PRS ticket cancellations the card last 4 digits and RRN no should be fed in the system accurately by the ECRC.RRN no to be generated by the POS and will be printed on the ticket as well. Here I am posting my Ticket with the Charge Slip generated by SBI POS terminal. In the ticket picture the numbers (Card Last 4 digits and RRN) are marked...

in blue in both charge slip and ticket. This has to be done accurately and should be checked nicely by the passenger because if these numbers are not entered correctly you may not get refund if the ticket is cancelled as the refund is processed in offline mode and the amount will be credited in the same account within 7 working days. Thanks.
