Maharashtra is blessed with temple of its favourite Lord, Ashtavinayak Ganpati temples. Pune distt being luckiest to have 5 of them.
Ashtavinayak literally means 8 Vinayak or Eight
Ganesh. Ashtavinayak Yatra is a pilgrimage to 8 Ganesha temples in Maharashtra, in a pre defined sequence. Its a circuitry pilgrimage in which temple visited first is visited again after pilgrimage. All these murtis are Swayambhu means not created by human, all were found completely formed by nature.
1. Moreshwar Temple, Morgaon: Mayureshwar located at Morgaon taluk, Pune distt is 1st temple to visit during yatra. Mayureshwar means Lord of peacock. Lord Ganesh is riding over peacock and has fair complexion with Snake as crown.
Nearest stn: Jejuri: 15km, Nira 23km. Major Railhead: Pune.
