What is the meaning of ERS/VRM ? I have this printed on my Electronic Reservation Slip(ERS).

Virtual Reservation Message (VRM) - A screen-shot of the e-ticket displayed through laptops/palmtops/ Mobile Phones is referred as Virtual Reservation Message (VRM).

The ERS/VRM along with the ID proof in original would be verified by TTE with the name and PNR on the chart. If the passenger fails to produce/display ERS/VRM due to any eventuality (loss, discharged mobile/laptop, etc)
This is what I got printed on my ERS.

ERS(Electronic Reservation Slip) -The printout in standard specified Performa containing reservation particulars, and instructions for use which can be used by the Passenger along with the relevant authorized Identification, as travel authority for performing the journey. (See Performa / sample here) link showing ERS. The user of the ERS is governed by these rules and the instructions available on the ERS itself.

Can i know what is Virtual Reservation Message
as per irctc carring print out of eticket is not mandatory
we can carry Virtual Reservation Message
is the e copy of print out or even sms will do which we get from irctc
