Mails were the trains that used to carry the mails i.e the posts and had a seperate coach called the RMS wagons(Railway mail service)-the name "mail" doesnt have much of releavance now. Bangalore mail, Howrah mail, Boat mail(carried mails to Danushkodi from where they transferred by boats to Sri Lanka) were named because of same

Thanks for post. Your post have detail of definition of Mail trains . My query is what is difference between Mail and express trains . As you told RMS . Is all Mail trains have RMS wagon still in IR Mail trains.

Expresses which carried mails were mails-now many trains dont have the RMS wagon seperate-sometimes luggage wagon itself is used-and there is no particular train for carrying postal services at present. RMS wagon can be found in the 1041/42 CSTM-Chennai Express and its RSA CSTM-Chennai Mail
