Raj Saheb, You confused me! But I am right. The question is economical III Tier AC. The poster is referring to E-IIIAC. Please check for Duranto train and see for yourself, I suggest. On garib raths, and I have checked again, it is IIIAC and NOT economical III tier AC. Economic IIIAC is designated as E-IIIAC and not just as III AC. This is a new class started on Duranto, Raj Saheb. And it is presently on Durantos only, with three side berths, so that capacity of the coach is also increased! And in Duranto whether you travel Sl (as in the case of NZM-Chennai-NZM) food is included in E-IIIAC also apart from the other A/C coaches, etc. Please do check and post again if I am right, and if I am wrong, please advise me where I am wrong, and how I can check it. You are correct. In Garib Raths, though the coaches are with 3 side berths, still the class is 3AC only. Two distinctions are there - 1. The coach numbers are prefixed with 'G' instead of regular 'B' and 2. The fare list is altogether different as of Rajdhanis or Shatabdis.

Normally in 3 AC there are 8 compartment and each of 8 seats (3 +3 +2) i.e total 64. where as a sleeper has 9 compartment and each of 8 seats (3 +3 +2) i.e total 72.
Our past railway minister made some changes to add a side birth making 3 AC with 8 compartment and each of 9 seats (3 +3 +3) i.e total 72. where as a sleeper has 9 compartment and each of 9 seats (3 +3 +3) i.e total 81.
Where as in Garibrath there are coaches AC...

I do no understand if all pesenges pay same faire in a trian like garib rath, then why some have 2 side births and some have to squeeze in 3 side births.
Now going with the smae patern what is duronto 3 AC economy.
