The Loco Story :
Built by Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi first in 1975.
Maximum speed - 62.5 kmph. Maximum power output - 1400 hp.

Several of these locos are fitted with creep control system which allows them to be operated at a speed of 1 to 7 kmph for hauling heavy loads.
These locos consist of the YDM4 powerpack i.e. 6-cylinder 4-stroke inline Alco engine, turbo-supercharged. 
Technicalities :
Engine --- Alco 251D-6, 6 cylinder in-line
Transmission --- Diesel Electric
Bogie type --- Alco asymmetric cast Co-Co trimount bogies.
Loco weight --- 113 tonnes
Axle load --- 21 tons.
