Question- Why loco pilot sometimes release the pressure manually from the compressor generating air pressure for braking?
Answer- The compressor generates air pressure by using the surrounding air. Air is forced inside the gas cylinder by the compressor. During rainy season when surrounding air has increased moisture content, the compressor also forces some water(moisture) inside the cylinder. This kind of air containing water may reduce the efficiency of the braking system of the train.
