The modernization project will also involve closing the main road leading from the Chaibasa stand and the Rail SP Office to Karandih, as it will become part of the Tatanagar station complex. Two alternative routes are being considered: a flyover from Jugsalai's Sankata Singh Petrol Pump to Karandih, and a road from the Jagannath Temple in Khasmahal to the station petrol pump through the Guddi Market. This modernization project has caused concern among shop owners who are worried about their livelihoods and the lack of alternative options provided by the railway. The railway has also started clearing houses behind the station road Shiv Temple, with doors and windows being removed by the railway department and bricks and reinforcement bars being taken by others.
