Railways reconsidering proposal to remove Shoranur as stoppage for the long distance trains (Raptisagar ex, DHN-Allp, Ahilyanagri Exp, Sabari exp) which have loco reversal. Almost 30-40 min are wasted, pf availability is an issue. Railways feels that lot of time can be saved if these trains avoid SRR. Instead stoppage can be given at Ottapalam & Wadakanchery.
Lets see how this proposal is taken by the people. The last time similar proposal was given but couldnt be implemented.

People towards north will object like last time, as stop at OTP will not serve the purpose. Wadakancherry also no stops for many trains.
They can make an island platform and make a two minute stop at SRR outer will solve the issue. The triangular platform is a long pending issue.

Earlier there was a station Bharatapuzha, just before SRR. This was where the two lines used to separate (one bypassing SRR and one going to SRR). If developed , this can definitely be used. In fact there is mention of the same in the article
