रेल अधिकारियों के बंगले में खाना बनाने और घरेलू काम करने वाले गैंगमैन, प्वाइंट यहां तक कि आरपीएफ और हम्माली को भी चेयरमैन की फटकार के बाद फील्ड में भेजना शुरू कर दिया गया है। हालात यह हैं कि जो अधिकारी परिवार के साथ यहां रह रहे हैं उन्हें तो राहत है, लेकिन जो अकेले रहते हैं उनके घर पर घर खाना बनाने वाला कोई कर्मचारी नहीं बचा है। रेलवे अधिकारियों की पत्नियों ने बाई की तलाश शुरू कर दी है, तो वहीं सब्जी लाने की जिम्मेदारी भी बढ़ गई है।
इसमें तकरीबन 4500 गैंगमैन हैं। इसमें लगभग 1200 बंगलों में सेवाएं दे रहे थे। अब इन्हें फील्ड में भेजा जा रहा है।

* With a big & successful first step in cleansing IR, it looks like the new chairman may succeed in bring much needed changes in work culture of IR.
* Sole weakness of the Mr Prabhu as RM was inability to change the actual working of the IR bureaucracy & workforce to match the new targets and new policies. Had Mr. Lohani became chairman earlier, that too could have been taken care of and IR would have started enjoying the fruits of visionary policies instead of continuing with old tradition of 100+ accidents per annum.

* If 1200 gangmen are working as "domestic help" of IR officials in JPB division only, what should be the total figure of such unofficial "domestic help" in IR with 73 divisions, 17 zones and plethora of factories, workshops, hospitals, schools etc!! Definitely over 1 lac!!
* The safety can be easily taken care of if these "domestic help"/gangmen are put on the right job i.e. keeping vigil and maintaining the track rather than bringing vegetables and cooking food at the house of superiors. There is no need of recruiting 2 lac new new gnagmen for the job and further bloating the employee cost of IR. Many of them too would have ultimately ended up being domestic help.
