private trains.
Note here, that Tejas Express, which is India’s 1st private train, is being managed and run by IRCTC, which is a subsidiary of Indian Railways focussing on catering, ticketing and sale of water bottles.
IRCTC has just launched their IPO, which has broken several records in stock market.
MakeMyTrip, SpiceJet, Indigo Will Run Private Trains
Some of the biggest names in the travel industry have now come out, and pitching for their participating in running private trains.
MakeMyTrip, India’s biggest online ticketing platform has shown keen interest in jumping into this niche, which will perfectly compliment their existing business model.
Spicejet and Indigo, which are currently India’s #2 and #1 airline carrrier in India, have also shown interesting in running private trains.
More than 150 private trains will be running on the tracks of Indian Railways very soon, and more and more private players need to be involved.
Indian Railways Considering Proposals
As per the reports coming in, Indian Railways has confirmed that they have received the proposals from MakeMyTrip, Spicejet and Indigo airlines, and they are considering the proposals.
However, another set of reports indicate that now as the first non Indian Railways trains is successfully running (Tejas Express, between Lucknow and Delhi), they will now create a set of terms and conditions for private players.
After that, there will be an open bidding for allocating the routes to the private companies, and then the main operators will be finalised.
How Can Private Firms Make Money Via Indian Railways?
Indian Railways has already announced that private companies running private trains will be able to set their own fares.
And this changes everything.
For some of the busiest routes on which private trains would be allowed are: Delhi – Mumbai, Delhi – Chennai, Delhi Howrah, which are extremely busy, and critical routes.
Private players, if they assure better & timely services, can charge a premium from passengers, and recover their costs.
More details are awaited.

Well, that happened in Telangana with TRTC. 48k employees were sacked. Anyway, to be fair, govt. will offer VRS to non-workers. for IR, the scale would be high.

That i agree with u...but in most of these kind of pvt labour oriented companies give a salary of Rs. 5000 pm and too much work for 12 to 14 hrs a day and that too in Metro cities . So, how can these people survive in metro cities with 5000 salary with this growing level of mehengayi ka jamana. I know many people in Delhi working in small pvt companies with Rs. 5000 salary in Delhi.
Now this unemployment is all over in all sectors be it Real estate, Automobile sector, Manufacturing sector, Power sector, etc all over even Agriculture is down, Shate markets down...everywhere and in this situation running Pvt trains with flexi-fare is a additional burden

on people if this scheme is applied to most trains slowly, with high petrol, diesel, gas prices, with unlimited increase with no price control on Health sector, Airlines sector, private School addmissuon and study costs...and reducing Saving Interest, Post office Interest everywhere. With high unemployment.
But still i also don't support those peoples who don't want to work , lazy peoples. I too have no sympathy for them.

5000 per month is a joke, agreed. But min. wage for unskilled labour like helper, delivery boys etc. is at least 13000. For skilled, like electrician, wireman, plumber, welder, driver etc. it is much higher. At our sugarcane farms, cane cutters demand 1000 per day!
Pvt. trains will stop unauthorized travel, free travel/food/bed rolls for IR employees and their families. Pvt. trains will also make travellers feel safer without unauthorized vendors and beggars.

Think of them too sir...... Sir i request you don't be merciless.
I agree

Railway staffs Concessions/ free travel should be stopped ...but Concessions for Patients, Handicapped persons, Sr. Citizens should be there , these Concessions should not be removed at all.
