RAJKOT: A lion got injured in a railway accident near Ucchaya village in Amreli district on Tuesday morning. The lion got injured in leg and is in the care centre for primary treatment. He might be taken to Sakkarbaug zoo for further treatment.
The lion was spotted on the route connecting port Pivavav where approximately over two dozen goods trains pass through everyday.

trackers have been instructed to keep a watch on their movement while trains are passing. If a lion is spotted on the track, they have to immediately inform the authority to stop the train.
Even the train drivers are instructed to go in low speed and apply breaks if they see a lion on the track.
Railway officials and forest department organise meetings at regular intervals to discuss about avoiding such accidents.
