Massive Ticket Checking drives have been conducted by South Eastern Railway in its entire network to prevent ticketless travel during the period from April to December of the current financial year (2017-18). As a result, a sum of Rs.26.48 Crores was realised towards fare and penalty from 5.42 lakh cases detected travelling without ticket or with improper ticket. In comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year, the amount realised from ticketless travellers has increased by 18.6%. Eastern Railway’s Asansol Division made all out effort for better passenger comfort by providing more & more amenities to the passengers. The renovation & beautification work includes more space for car parking, auto rickshaw stand in the station circulating area for easy movement of passengers, provision of more greenery for conservation of environment vis-à-vis aesthetics of the station premises, LED illumination at the station area for energy saving as well as more luminosity, modern CCTV cameras for better safety & security of the passengers etc.
However, the following works have been undertaken by Division recently:
i)A new pickup & drop zone of 6200 sq.ft. has been developed, 5800 sq.ft. area developed as green car parking zone, suitable space of 2000 sq.ft. and 600 sq.ft. developed for auto stand and rickshaw stand respectively in the Asansol station circulating area.
ii)Beside the main entrance, 1800 sq.ft. parking zone has been developed for Divyang persons to facilitate their easy access to the station.
iii)Retro-reflective boards have been placed at convenient locations for the benefit of passengers so that they won’t have to ask anyone for direction.
iv)All four gardens in the circulating area of the station spread over around 18000 sq.ft. area have been beautified. v)Walls of station boundary have been beautified with colourful paintings.
vi)LED lights hav been used to illuminate the station area and display boards.
vii)Four modern state of the art CCTV cameras have been installed for ensuring better safety & security of the passengers.
To clear the rush of passengers in the forthcoming summer season, Eastern Railway will run 100 summer special trains on various routes. 03135/03136 Kolkata-Chhapra-Asansol Summer Special trains (26trips) 03135 will leave Kolkata station on Mondays at 20.05 hrs. from 02.04.2018 to 25.06.2018 and reach Chhapra at 10.00 hrs. on the next day. 03136 will leave Chhapra on Tuesdays at 13.20 hr. from 03.4.2018 to 26.6.2018 and terminate at Asansol at 01.10 hrs. on the next day. To facilitate passengers and to clear extra rush, Western Railway has decided to extend the trips of Bandra Terminus – Nizamuddin Tri-Weekly Superfast AC Rajdhani Special for further three months from 18th January, 2018 to 15th April, 2018. No. 09003 Bandra (T) – Nizamuddin Tri-Weekly Superfast AC Rajdhani Special Train departs Bandra Terminus at 16.05 hrs on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and reaches Nizamuddin at 06.00 hrs, the next day. Similarly in return direction, Train no 09004 Nizamuddin – Bandra (T) Tri-Weekly Superfast AC Rajdhani Special Train departs from Nizamuddin at 16.15 hrs on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and reaches Bandra (T) at 06.10 hrs, the next day. This train halts at Surat, Vadodara and Kota stations in both the directions. The train has AC I Tier, AC II Tier and AC III Tier Coaches. Western Railway has clarified that as per the demand from passengers, the proposal for allowing First class pass holders of non-AC locals for travelling in AC Local train by paying difference is mooted but has not yet received necessary approval from competent authority. In view of some media reports that existing first class passes will be valid in air-conditioned trains by paying the difference to the ticket checker present on board in the AC train, it is clarified that no final decision has been taken in this regard yet. After due consideration with respect to all aspects a decision will be taken at appropriate level, whether a first class pass holder be allowed to travel in AC train on paying the difference. Till then, existing rules & fare structure will follow. Commuters are requested to adhere to the present arrangement to avoid any inconvenience. Wide publicity will also be given, through official mediums whenever any decision in this matter will be taken by the competent authority.
