Western Railway’s Jagjivan Ram Hospital has earned the distinction of being the first Railway Hospital to be dedicated as COVID hospital.During the challenging times of Covid19 pandemic, JRH hasensured state of the art medical facilities and has treated more than 3500 covid patients with best recovery rate. In continuance to this, the newly renovated & revamped OPD block at Jagjivan Ram Hospital has been opened. Shri Alok Kansal - General Manager of W. under renovation, which included repairing of beams, columns, slabs, flooring and waterproofing of seepage locations. 9 OPDs have been remodelled and upgraded with air conditioning. To improve the ambience and the aesthetics, synthetic wallpapers have been used to give it a modern and swanky look. The seating capacity has been enhanced and can now accommodate around 80 visitors in the corridor as well as in reception area. Shri Thakur stated that all the OPDs have been provided with customised elevated storage, sitting arrangement and patient examination beds as per the requirement of OPD's health staff. The washroom area (both ladies/gents) has also been given a facelift and has been provided with concealed and PPR non-corrosive piping.
Shri Thakur informed that another notable accomplishment on this occasion was the launching of the online OPD appointment module. This will enable the patients wanting to visit JRH to take online appointment of the doctor and can book their slots 15 days in advance and patients can get the status of slot availability well in advance. This will greatly reduce the waiting period at JRH OPD and will help to avoid excess crowding thereby fulfilling the purpose of social distancing. Provision has also been made so that patients can approach JRH in case of an emergency.
Addressing during the event, WR GM Shri Alok Kansal appreciated the commendable performance by the team of Corona Warriors of Jagjivan Ram Hospital during the last 6 months. He said that our Hon'ble Prime Minister has given us 3 important mantras to fight with the deadly Corona Pandemic i.e. DO GAJ KEE DOOREE, MASK HAI ZAROOREE & JAB TAK DAWAI NAHEEN, TAB TAK DHILAI NAHEEN..! He appealed to all, to strictly follow these important aspects in our daily lives to stay safe from Covid19. He also aplauded the marvelous efforts of Principal Chief Medical Director of WR & his entire team during lockdown, inspite of toughest challenges of Covid19 pandemic. This event was virtually attended by Principal Chief Medical Director, Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Central Division, Principal Heads of the Departments, Doctors and senior officers of Western Railway.
Shri Thakur stated that taking into consideration of the demands of Railway Beneficiaries, the Jagjivan Ram Hospital has now reviewed the status and has started offering services for the regular Railway Beneficiaries (Non-COVID) too. Since Jagjivan Ram Hospital is now dealing with both COVID and Non-COVID patients, the hospital has been segregated accordingly. The top two floors are COVID area and the next two floors are Non-COVID areas. First floor has ICUs and OTs for both types of patients. Adequate physical barriers and bilingual signages have been placed to ensure separation of both types of patients and the movements accordingly. Separate lifts have also been designated for both kinds of patients. Protocols for management of both types of patients have been developed in consultation with medical officers and staff of Jagjivan Ram Hospital. The training of the Medical Officers, Staff and contract staff has been undertaken. To ensure the safety of all, the movement of the visitors and attendants in the hospital is controlled by issuing passes and adequate security arrangements and monitoring are in place to ensure the compliance to protocols.
