Why Nepal Needs India to Run Its Passenger Trains

Nepal is entirely reliant on Indian company Konkan Railways Corporation Ltd (KRCL) to operate its only cross-border passenger train service, the Jayanagar-Kurtha line, due to its inability to train its own personnel. The current contract with KRCL will be extended for another year as Nepal has been unable to send staff...

for training. The Nepal Railway Company Limited (NRCL) had awarded the contract to KRCL after failing to hire and train its own staff. The 35km line, connecting Jayanagar in Bihar to Janakpur in Nepal, is part of a larger project, the Jayanagar-Bijalpura-Bardibas rail link, which is being developed with Indian assistance. While the first section is operational, work on the second section is underway and the third is in the planning stage. Despite the delays, NRCL has hired 115 Nepali staff, but relies on KRCL's technical expertise for the operations. This dependence on India for technical expertise highlights the strategic importance of the railway, promoting economic integration and connectivity between the two nations.

Nepal apne khud ke logon ko train service chalane ke liye train nahin kar paya, toh Himalayan nation ek Indian company par pura depend hai. Jayanagar-Kurtha passenger train service ke liye Konkan Railways Corporation Ltd (KRCL) ke saath contract ek saal ke liye aur badh gaya hai, kyunki Nepal staff ko...

training ke liye nahin bhej paya. Nepal Railway Company Limited (NRCL) ne KRCL ko contract diya tha, kyunki NRCL khud staff hire aur train nahin kar paya. 35 km lambi line, Bihar ke Jayanagar ko Nepal ke Janakpur se jodta hai, ek bade project ka hissa hai, Jayanagar-Bijalpura-Bardibas rail link, jo Indian help se ban raha hai. Pehla section chal raha hai, dusra section par kaam chal raha hai, aur teesra section planning stage mein hai. Delay ke baavajood, NRCL ne 115 Nepali staff hire kiye hain, par operation ke liye KRCL ki technical expertise par depend hain. India ki technical expertise par yeh dependancy railway ke strategic importance ko highlight karta hai, jiske aage dono nationon ke beech economic integration aur connectivity badhta hai.
