Aurangabad Rly Stn saves over RS. 3Lacs Electricity Bill.

SCR has applied an innovative method to save the electricity and in turn reduced the electricity bill by a huge difference. This was done on select stations on experimental basis as per the instructions of railway board.
What railway did is, that they used the system consisting of CFL lamps (T-5 category (?)), LED

lamps, timers, occupancy sensors, and solar power. Using this system the lamps on the platforms are turned on only 15 mins prior to the arrival of the train and turned off after departure of the trains. Whenever there is gap between two trains, 70 % lamps are kept off while 30% are kept on. Among more than 60 trains passing through Aurangabad, 25 to 27 pass between 7PM in evening to 6AM in morning. During these hours, in the absence of trains, 70% lamps, fans, display boards, coach guidance boards are kept off.
Usually railway has to pay around RS. 11 lacs per month as an electricity bill. Due to energy saving now railway has to pay only Rs. 7 lacs 80 thousand only.
