from Cantt station at 2:30 PM, half an hour late. The brake failure occurred at 2:50 PM as the train reached Shivpur. Passengers were surprised by the sudden halt. The train's running staff notified the railway control, and carriage and wagon as well as mechanical department personnel arrived and resolved the fault by 3:18 PM. The Varanasi-Indore Mahakal Express, which had already departed from Cantt, had to wait on a different track, and the Intercity finally left at 3:40 PM.

They went to the Cantt station to catch the train but boarded the Ahmedabad train by mistake. When the train reached near Kadipur underpass, they realized it was not the Kamayani Express.
