The Railway Station in Dwaraka, Gujarat, took us by surprise as the structure is so apt to the Holy Town.
The picture below tells us that the Railways have maintained it clean, in spite of a huge influx of pilgrims. The reason for this information is the stark difference that hit me on arrival back home.
Heritage Mysore City Railway Station, which has such antiquity, is totally hidden, with ugly banners, hoardings, annexure constructions, vehicle parking, dug up pavements.
Mysore is losing its charm with projects like useless underpasses on pavements of Sayyaji Rao Road, malls and other concrete structures around K.R. Market and K.R. Circle, pavements dug up all around the Mysore Palace, Cheluvamba Park turned topsy-turvy, Paramahamsa and Vivekananda Roads pathetic, thanks to some mysterious Telecom Works handiwork.
And now, the recent development — construction of railings and canopy over the Chamundi steps by MUDA.
Added to this, we have a grave problem coming up. With the Elections round the corner, huge flex boards, posters, hand bills and Vote For’s… will come up, be strewn around, creating a mess to the already piling up garbage !
The reason is because we are mute spectators, but for a handful of brave hearts!
MUDA, MCC, CHESCOM, Vani Vilas Water Works, Police, Heritage Commissioner, along with the Deputy Commissioner should use the funds allotted just for keeping Mysore clean, green and free from new concrete structures.
Take the public into confidence and let politics stay away.

Dwarka : A new ‘model’ railway station will be opened at Dwarka in Gujarat on Monday. The old Dwarka railway station has been converted to model railway station by adding new facilities like a fully furnished waiting room, computerized system, public toilet, garden, availability of pure drinking water, breakfast and tea etc.Considering the fact that Dwarka railway station is far away from Dwarka mandir, a demand was made to set up railway ticket reservation centre inside the mandir campus instead of at the railway station. Accordingly, a computerized reservation center would be opened within mandir complex on Monday.
