Even if a new Rajdhani is introduced, NCR-ECR mei Rajdhani slot milna boht zyada mushkil hai aur agar JHS hoke chalane ka plan bane to ROU skip ho jayegi. Kuchh bhi ho Dhenkanal and Angul/Talcher Road deserve a stop

BHUBANESWAR: Union railway minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday informed that the railway ministry has agreed to run the Rajdhani Express between Delhi and Bhubaneswar via Sambalpur.
Goyal informed it to the reporters after a meeting with chief minister Naveen Patnaik in New Delhi. The daily Rajdhani Express which is being run between Delhi and Bhubaneswar via Cuttack, Bhadrak and Balasore will be diverted to run via Sambalpur at least one day in a week (possibly on Saturday).
The new route, which has been mooted for benefit of the people in western Odisha, would

touch stations like Dhenkanal, Angul, Talcher, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Rourkela.
During discussion, Naveen also demanded to extend the Howrah-Bhubaaneswar Jan Shatabdi up to Nayagarh on Khurda-Balangir line.
Land acquisition for new railway projects, re-commissioning of the stations at Paralakhemundi and Kashinagar in Gajapati district and Gunupur in Rayagada district on the Naupada-Gunupur railway line and running a train (Mumbai to Mumabi via Khurda) after eminent freedom fighter Buxi Jagabandhu, who led the historic Paika rebellion in 1817 were among other demands, official sources said.
Earlier, Naveen met Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari and demanded to finalize tender for construction of a flyover at Khandagiri square on National Highway (NH)-16 that passed through the city.
Justifying demand, Naveen said a flyover at Khandagiri square in an acute necessity as it is the most congested junction in Bhubaneswar with a history of several terrible road accidents.
Khandagiri square turned into a death trap with over 30 people losing their lives in road accidents in the past three years. The busy junction is one of the 31 black spots or accident-prone areas in the state according to a survey of the NHAI and roads and buildings wing of the works department.
The chief minister also sought another flyover at Gohira Chhaka leading to InfoValley-II (another IT hub) near Khurda on NH-16, which is also a busy stretch and witnessing frequent accidents, said an official statement issued by the chief minister's office.
As the Centre has already given in-principle approval for 12 state roads as new NHs covering a length of 1193 km, Naveen asked to formally declare them as NH and number them accordingly. Also, Naveen sought early approval of state's proposal to upgrade 30 state roads covering a length of 2483 km as NH.
Expressing concern over delay in construction of the road over bridge near Chandanpur in Puri and the 9-km bypass of Puri town from Mangalahat to Sterling Resort, Naveen requested Gadkari to direct officials for early completion of these projects. Both the projects were scheduled to complete before Nabakalebar-2015.
Among others, the chief minister sought finalization of tender relating to widening (4-laning) of Cuttack-Angul NH-42, Barkote-Panposh NH-23, Chandikhol-Duburi-Talcher section of NH-200, Remuli-Rajamunda section on NH-215 and 6-laning of Chandikhol-Balasore NH-16.
According to the statement, the Union minister assured to take expedite tender process and completion of the flyover projects in a time bound manner.

BHUBANESWAR: Rajdhani Express from Bhubaneswar to New Delhi will run via Sambalpur soon at least once a week. The issue was discussed during a meeting at New Delhi between Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Railway and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister also informed the Railway Minister about the status of various railway projects and train services in Odisha. for people of these areas.
Stating that the Odisha Government has signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Railways for Jeypore-Malkangiri and Jeypore-Nabarangpur lines with substantial financial participation from the State, the Chief Minister requested the Railway Minister to commence work on these projects. Naveen said a new line between Puri and Konark having vast tourism potential is required for which the State Government has committed to share 50 per cent of the construction and land cost. He requested the Railway Minister to sanction the project at the earliest.
Naveen also requested Goyal to redevelop 11 railway stations in Odisha identified by the Railway Ministry like the Bhubaneswar railway station. He also expressed the need for re-commissioning of the railway stations at Parlakhemundi and Kashinagar and upgrading Gunupur with terminal station facility to enable handling of more coaching trains.
Urging the Railway Minister to expedite work on the ongoing new line and capacity augmentation projects in Odisha, the Chief Minister also stressed upon completion of Angul-Sukinda and Haridaspur-Pradip lines and sought approval of passenger trains on the route.
Naveen also requested Goyal to suitably enhance the bridge coal linkage to Odisha Power Generation Corporation and to allocate a suitable coal block to Odisha Thermal Power Corporation in lieu of the earlier allocated Tentuloi coal block. While assuring the Chief Minister to expedite the decisions on these issues, Goyal sought the cooperation of the State Government in augmenting the coal production of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, particularly at Talcher coal field.

New Delhi: Rail commuters in Odisha have something to cheer about as the Ministry of Railways will soon introduce a new Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express which will run via Sambalpur soon.
“I am very happy to share with you that the Ministry of Railways has decided to commence a Rajdhani train between New Delhi and Bhubaneswar via Sambalpur,” said Railway Minister Piyush Goyal after a meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in New Delhi today.
Goyal also said he held discussions with Naveen on various issues pertaining to rail projects in Odisha

including law and order situation, land acquisition and forest clearances under the environmental laws.
“I have been assured of full cooperation by the Chief Minister and his colleagues,” Goyal added.
The Railway Minister’s announcement came after the CM raised State’s demands in the meeting with Goyal today on the first day of his six-day Delhi visit.
Apart from the new Rajdhani Express, Patnaik also urged him to introduce Buxi Jagabandhu Express from Khurda Road to Mumbai via Sambalpur and extend Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express to Nayagarh town.
Talking to reporters, Patnaik said that he also impressed upon the Union Minister to commence the work on Jeypore-Nabarangpur and Jeypore-Malkangiri lines, sanction a new line between Puri and Konark and redevelop 11 railway stations in Odisha as identified by Railways earlier.
Urging the Rail minister to expedite work on the ongoing new line and capacity augmentation projects in Odisha, the CM also stressed upon completion of Angul-Sukinda and Haridaspur-Pradip lines and sought approval of passenger trains on the route.
Moreover, the CM demanded re-commissioning of railway stations at Paralakhemundi and Kashi Nagar and upgradation of Gunpur station on Nuapada-Gunpur line.
Besides, challenges related to coal mining were also discussed, informed Goyal.
Goyal, who holds the Coal portfolio, sought Odisha government’s support to sort out mining issues.
“We have been facing serious challenges in coal mining particularly in Talcher for which I have requested the Chief Minister and his colleagues to support our efforts to ensure hassle-free coal mining which is impacting power plants across the country including Odisha. I have been assured of full support,” Goyal said.
