Alight here for the ever famous enormous Shiva Statue...

"Murudeshwara" is another name of the Hindu god Shiva. Famous for the world's second-tallest Shiva statue, Murudeshwara beach town lies on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is also famous for the Murudeshwara Temple.

The auto fare is Rs.40 from station to Murdeshwar Shiva temple which is fixed rate and they don't charge high when they know you are not local person; this is one good part.

When I went last time, the cloak room really was a shop who sell biscuits, books where we can leave our bags. I was not comfortable with this and instead carried it to temple and kept in their cloak room which was very good.

mindful of their lunch time at temple as they close the cloak room and leave for lunch; then you may have to wait till they are back!

Famous Murudeshwara temple is approx 2 kms from railway station. One can take auto-rickshaw from station which charge Rs 40 (as of Nov 2019). If your train reaches very early in the morning or late in the night, they will charge Rs. 80 (personal experience). From Murudeshwara, one can also visit Idagunji Ganapati Temple (16 kms from Murudeshwara auto stand). Autos take Rs 400/- for a return trip. NH-17 is few meters from the station but I am not exactly sure of the bus stop on NH17

Bus stop is below the welcome arch located adjacent to highway, for buses bound to Murdeshwara. For passing through buses on highway, buses stop next to arch where auto stand is located too.
