India's only rural village sports Olympics happens here every year.
Running for eight decades now, the popular sports festival in the districts of Punjab is a fascinating sight to witness. This sporting event takes place in the very beginning of February and lasts for 3 days.
It is the time when the farming chores are put on the back burner and people gather to perform some of the craziest, insane and bizarre feat at Kila Raipur Village which is 15 kilometers from Ludhiana.

The Indian Rural Olympics are basically designed to test one’s skill, strength, will-power and endurance!
The amazing sports that happen here can be believed only if you seen it!
Various competitions are organized which involves animals including mules, dogs, camels, Bullocks, etc. All the professional sports activities in which sportsmen participate are a spectacle to watch.
The biggest crowd-puller is the adrenaline-pumping, trail blazing and eye-brow raising Bullock Cart Race. Throughout the races, one could hear the voice of “oooohhsss” and “aaaahhss” from the crowd! The winner of this race receives a large cash prize. Even the Guinness book and Limca book of world records authorities swarm to this festival to recognize many world records made here during these 3 days.
I still remember my only visit to this Rural olympics 9 years back. It's a one in a life time experience which till the last breath you will remember. Every India should atleast once visit this "Rural Olympics".
For reaching here , either you can alight at LDH which is connected very well through out the country and then hire a 4 wheeler. It will be bit costly but will be hassle free as that whole vehicle will reserved for you only whole the 3 days.
Or else , you can even take any Hisar bound passenger trains from Ludhiana and its the 3rd halt after LDH. Even though Kila raipur is a small village but during this festival you will be surprised to see the crowd and amenities provided here.
There is no option for staying there at village , so preferable itinerary would be to reach there early morning , Ebjoy the full day , Fill up your tummy with delicious "Desi Punjabi" food and return back to Ludhiana at evening for the night's sleep in hotel. Ludhiana has numerous amount of Hotels/Lodges to stay.
PS: Bit of caution, Its a male dominated festival and region , so its not advisable for lone females/girls to visit. But yes, girls in groups or pair are pretty safe.
