If in goa your destination is Ponda city and nearby regions, then this station can be a quicker means to travel.
Direct buses to ponda are available from here. Do care the buses travelling here carry name board Ponda-Sanvordem (NOT Kudchade/Curchorem).
The bus goes via Shiroda,Borim route.

Road has improved a lot. Only glitch is between Sanvordem and shiroda. And All the trains which come from outside the state and halt here are from east only. No long journey train comes from MAO side except Poorna Express.
And this tip is better suited for young travellers with less luggage (as in buses you will suffer with heavy luggage).

Boss I'm a resident of Shiroda and the road from Sanvordem to Shiroda is much better and less crowded than Madgaon to Shiroda. Also Sanvordem to Ponda via Shiroda is a good option. Only thing SVM lacks is proper rail connections like Madgaon.
Mr Jay, the reason gave by you for disagreeing is totally wrong.
Kindly update yourself first regarding the present conditions of this road and then give disagree.
I have personally travelled numerous times (last time in nov 2015) by this route and even local members has also approved it.
Please don't misguide others.
