Tirupoongur- Located just about 3 kms from Vaiteeshwaran Koil, this place is famous for the kodi maram and the nandi (Bull) not facing the lord directly in centre but shifted a few feet to their right As per the legend , Nandanaar, a great devotee of Lord shiva was not allowed to enter into the Sanctum to worship the Lord. So he stands outside and starts singing in praise of Lord. Lord shiva on hearing this songs, instructs the nandi " Sattre Vilagiruppai pillai" (Please move a bit my child).
