************ Famous Temple Town of South India and a famous travelling spot for pilgrimage situated just 11 km away from Kanyakumari(Cape Comorin)*************
In this blog I am describing the detailed account of Suchindram which is a panchayat town in Kanniyakumari district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu with Indian postal code as 629704. It is an important pilgrim centre and the site of the famous Thanumalayan Temple. Suchindram is famous to the tourists for Suchindram Temple which is a famous place of Pilgrimage to the tourists of not only this country but also to the foreigners. For this reason this blog is posted under the Category "General Travel" and also linked with the station "Nagercoil" which is just about

7 km from Suchindram and the nearest Railway Station of Suchindram.
Location:
Suchindram is about 11 km from Kanyakumari and about 7 km from Nagarcoil lying between these two towns. Busses ply from Thirunelveli, Kanyakumari and Trivandram. The nearest railway station is Nagarcoil on the Trivandrum - Kanyakumari section of the Southern Railway.Suchindram has an average elevation of 19 metres (62 feet). Suchindram is a temple town situated in the southern most district of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu State, India. It is 11 km from Kanyakumari city and 7 km from Nagarcoil town 70 km from adjacent Tirunelveli district and approximately 85 km from Trivandrum city. The town of Suchindrum is renowned for the Thanumalayan Temple and was an important citadel of Travancore.
Uniqueness of Suchindram Temple:
Suchindram temple is unique in the whole of India in that it is dedicated to three different deities represented by one image in the sanctum and is called Sthanumalayan (Sthanu-Shiva; Maal-Vishnu and Ayan-Brahma) kovil. The temple is rich in sculpture and architecture and a visitor to this temple is amply rewarded with the sight of such exquisite art of hundreds of years old
Mythology regarding Suchindram Temple:
The entrance tower to this temple is visible from a distance as it rises majestically for 134 feet. The face of the tower is covered with sculptures and statues from Hindu mythology. There is a covered area in front of the main entrance and the entrance itself is about 24 feet high with a beautifully carved door. There is only one corridor running along the outer wall of the temple with many shrines and mandapams scattered in the inner area. This temple attracts both Vaishnavites and Saivites in large numbers. About 30 shrines to various deities within the temple complex, the large Lingam in the sanctum, the idol of Vishnu in the adjacent shrine and a large idol of Hanuman at the Eastern end of the Northern corridor represent almost all the deities of the Hindu pantheon.

In Suchindram Temple , if you strike 7 different stones , you can hear the Saptha Swarangal (that is 7 Swarangal, namely of SA, RI, KA, MA, PA, THA, NI, SA in each different stone). You can spend a whole day in that temple as it has so much of interesting features & things to observe and see over there.

As far as I know this rule is applicable to all the railway stations of IR. At Nagpur they tell you to scan the baggage and have a sticker stuck before they keep your baggage .

hmm but in Madurai we were just asked to chain some bags even though none of the bags have locks. So i assumed that if the cloak rooms are maintained by contract the rules will be relaxed but where as if they are Govt owned (Both Luggage Room for parcel and Cloak Room are same)then they'll strictly apply.Correct if i'm wrong. The same luggage i have been rejected by cloak room official in NCJ has been accepted by TVC Cloak room people. We had a lot of pain of carrying 11 bags from NCJ to TVC and TVC to NCJ while visiting Ananta padmanabhaswamy temple

Nagercoil Junction is not close to the Town of Nagercoil- this station is located almost 3 kms away from main town of Nagercoil on the Kanniyakumari-Trivandrum Highway. The actual station is located about a kilometer from the main road and autos ply to the station. Town buses to Kanniyakumari and Nagercoil are available from the main road.
