In South Ashley is much preferred.
Personally I also love Ashley engine.

When I visited Tirumala in class 12, I remembered having travelled by a similar APSRTC Tata 6 geared bus (pic for reference, not mine). It was climbing ghats very well & didn't struggle.
But Tata bus struggles a lot in odisha

Lucknow: Lucknow Development Authority on Tuesday proposed to shift Kaiserbagh bus depot to Jankipuram and construct new bus stations on the outer ring road.
“Avadh bus stand on Ayodhya road has reduced the load of bus traffic at Kaiserbagh depot, but still around 1,300 buses operate from here causing traffic jams in many city areas. To solve this problem, we have proposed to UPSRTC to shift the depot to Jankipuram, along the Sitapur highway,” said Akshay Tripathi, vice chairperson, LDA.
