That could be an election jumla , nothing on ground reality. The rake is of ER and not sure if they will run it again but it is very much required service and acts as an alternative for DHN-JGM MEMU which runs crowded between BKSC-PRR.
Inter zonal tussle is an unwanted reality. It is more pronounced in case of ER and SER. Most extreme example is Masagram. Almost 7-8 years have elapsed bqa masagram have been commissioned and, there are two separate stations still exist in two zones only a few yards apart in Masagram. Now linking is being done on war foot via Gatishakti purpose vehicle but this could be done many years back when the GC project has been conceived in planning stage. Such a shame! Extension upto Dhanbad would be better as Dhanbad is the biggest station around and extension would give Dhanbad a train for Kharagpur.
