This train used to originally operate from LKO NR where it used to originate from PF #1. Once the fastest train/road connection between Lucknow and Delhi, it only halted at Kanpur when introduced, doing the journey in only 6 hours more than 3 decades ago. Ironically, as roads and expressways have been built and they have become faster, train transport has become slower.

The once mighty Lucknow Shatabdi standing at PF 6, which is accessible by cabway, of the station. It once used to be the fastest ground connection b/w Lucknow and Delhi stopping only at CNB [for traction change, I think] originally. It has been slowed by more than 30 minutes since then. Other trains like Tejas and even road connections are faster now. It used to come at LKO NR upto a decade back before being transferred to LJN NER.

Lucknowis should start save LKO Shatabdi movement .. or demand for a separate high priority train from Delhi .. as a VB can potentially cover Delhi LKO distance in less than 5.5 hours …

I always thought that LJN-NDLS would be one of the first routes to get a dedicated VB. After all, it even had a similar Tejas service operating in the morning. All IR had to do was scrape Tejas, introduce VB in it's place with same stoppage and make it slightly faster[due to increased acceleration of VBs].

Too many stoppages have killed the aura of Shatabdi. Yes , LJN tejas and Ayodhya Vande Bharat are there. But Shatabdi k alag hi baat thi. IR can reduce its TT by 30 mins

They are instead busy giving it more stoppages, even at useless stations like Phaphund.
