View of site where upcoming Mirjan station between Kumta & Gokarna Rd stations on KR, KA. Taken from nearest ROB. This Station will divide longest block of KR Network of 19.xx Kms. & will help in reduce delays as trains need not need to wait for more time for Crossings on either end or quick block clearance in case of Overtaking. The smoke in the pic (at left) is of 22635 MAQ Intercity which stopped mostly to carry workers or rail officials.

In Feb 2019, my Friend Anirudh & I went on a trip; a part of which was this Journey from Mangaluru to Mumbai by the 12134 Mangaluru - Mumbai CSMT SF Express. Initially this train wasn't there in the plan at all. But after many changes; we finally decided that we had to reach Mumbai early in the morning to explore some local train routes that we hadn't seen till then. Two of them were - Mumbai CSMT Panvel & Panvel Thane routes. It all began well enough, as against the late departures of all the days preceding this journey, our train left Mangaluru on time and in spite of delays at intermediate stations; we managed to reach Panvel on time.

Panvel Jn. → Now, that is where everything went wrong. If train was anywhere close to on time, we would have made it to Mumbai CSMT by 5, bought tickets and went our way. But no; our train didn't budge from pf-7 of Mumbai CSMT till 04:15, it stayed there for a good 1.5 hrs and still didn't make it to Mumbai CSMT before us. We were on local trains, mind you. Why? What happened?
