आरा से भभुआ रोड ( मुंडेश्वरी ) रेल लाइन परियोजना जो जगदीशपुर, दिनारा होकर गुजरने वाली थी , वर्षों से लंबित है जिसका शिलान्यास तत्कालीन रेल मंत्री लालू यादव ने किया था l आज रेलवे के ठंढे बस्ते में चली गई है l प्रत्येक वर्ष १००० रुपए या २००० रुपए दे कर केवल इस परियोजना को जिन्दा रखने का काम किया जाता है l इससे अच्छा तो यह था कि इस परियोजना को बंद ही कर दिया जाता l वर्तमान में अब देखते हैं कि आरा बलिया रेल लाइन का क्या हश्र होता है l

Is Ashwini Ji really the best candidate to lead railways, along with broadcasting and IT, considering the recent challenges the Railways and the news industry has faced in the recent years under the BJP govt? IT is a perfect fit for him in my opinion. The recent decrease in the number of SL coaches, priority of goods traffic over passenger traffic, delays incurring in regular Express trains, the crisis of unreserved passengers not even leaving AC coaches and boarding them without reservation, train safety mishaps, all are a testament to his mismanagement of the responsibilities as the minister of railways, while also claiming credit for achieving some very good milestones like electrification, MPS increase in various routes etc. And the news industry/broadcasting has also been compromised but that is off topic for this forum. I feel sometime during this year not in budget but on a random date AC class fares are going to increase for sure.
Since AC coaches have already increased proportional even a 10% increase will give good returns.
Govt will escape criticism saying we increased AC fares which happen to be 15-20% of total while an average Indian is still in sleeper and Unreserved class.

I was actually surprised that apart from tweets there was absolutely no coverage in media about the rake standardisation issue. Even within his own party and neither from opposition nobody seems to highlight this. I guess everyone keeps asking for new train and stoppages and that is where their understanding of railways is. Recently couple of days back he informed all GM's and RPF to act on these complaints but the fundamental issue which is of reduced gen coaches and reduced SL coaches still remains unaddressed. Another issue of poor punctuality of trains in Mumbai-Kolkata sector is unaddressed since almost 3 years now !!!

Absolutely. They want to introduce trains to show it as a publicity stunt on news channels which is why existing services don't get revamps. Existing infrastructure is going from bad to worse, no wonder people are angry with govt focusing on VB and not concentrating on existing ME/SF and even some premium trains. And has there been any good reporting on the condition of the railways and the issues it faces?! We are familiar with this because of this forum but some of the stuff we see here is definitely news worthy as it impacts travel. All the media cares about is breaking news and flashy headlines.

Fare increases have to be done. This govt claims per capita income has increased so that justifies the rise. But the thing is this has not happened uniformly. Now, for someone who's life hasn't improved due to the govts policy making, they know they can get away with misusing some railway services because some classes are not affordable to them and they have to make or break. Occupancies of trains has not been impacted but many such folk have clearly understood that the RPF won't do anything to them when they board reserved class coaches. So they take advantage of this. SL turn into general coaches, people are not even leaving AC coaches. Govt has to provide more 2S services or SL services for sure to combat this problem. It's not like people want to break the rules always. Services aren't available to them, that is why all these issues arise....

Media needs flashy headlines and Breaking news. I don't want to sound biased but most news channels can't stomach criticism of the current govt because their bosses are owned by supporters or have affiliations with the current govt. All these reports get coverage in page 7 or 9 in a small column and that's it.

If it is extended, it is useful for Nandyal people to go Visakhapatnam and They can go to srisailam easily with this directly. Which is 160 km and Nandyal is an district headquarter

This area definitely needs more connectivity. Connections to Rayalaseema from the rest of Andhra is very less. Rayalseema has some services to Hyderabad and many do break journeys or rely on Prasanti and HWH VSG are running with full capacity.
