Chief Minister of Karnataka & Member of Parliament, Shri Rajashekhar Basavaraj Patil, Member of Legislative Assembly (Humnabad), Shri Basavaraj Patil Humnabad, Member of Legislative Council, Shri Eshwara Khandre, Member of Legislative Assembly (Bhalki), other public representatives concerned, Shri Subodh Jain, Member Engineering, Railway Board, Shri P.K. Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway, other dignitaries and senior railway officials participated in the inaugural function.
Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge said that keeping in view the potential for growth of traffic and in response to the requirements of public of North Karnataka, Railways has progressively been expanding its network and services in this area. Commissioning of Khanapur–Humnabad section, which is part of the prestigious Bidar-Gulbarga new rail line project, fulfils the long cherished aspirations of the people of this region. The DEMU trains between Bidar and Humnabad will be of great use for the people of this area, as they provide a comfortable and economic mode of travel connecting several villages and towns en-route, he added.
Earlier, Shri P.K. Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway, while welcoming the gathering said that the 37.2 km long new rail line between Humnabad and Khanapur has been completed at a cost of around Rs. 200 cr. with 5 new Railway Stations en-route viz. Humnabad, Nandagaon, Hallikhed(B), Kanaji and Khanapur to serve the public transportation needs in this area.
