Bad forecasting. The makers of KR didnt expect this much traffic on KR...todays its one of indias most busy diesel routes
Sreedharan ne sab kuch accha kiya KR ke construction mein, sirf KR double line nahin banaya, if he would have got more money from market he would have done that also..
but the damage has already been done...the project is very successful but even after 17 years of operation it is still in a recovery phase....and now doubling will take twice the time it took to build the line ...plus the new Coastal Zone and the Forestry rules may create hurdles in the project
Another track should be built at a 10-20 metre gap between both tracks.
Thats what doubling of KR is very difficult.. Atleast they can double Roha-Veer and Vaibhavwadi-Pernem where doubling is easily possible.
