Does any one have idea what criteria is used for deciding higher or lower train no for any train between its end journey points ? For eg if train goes from A to B and back to A which journey will get higher train no (A-B or B-A)
Like for eg which train will be 16613 (lower no) and which train will be 16614 (one higher no). Is there any fix rule for deciding this ?

The train which is down or goes away from the divisional headquarters which owns it is numbered Odd and train which comes back or is up train is coded as even number. For example Golden temple mail is train of Mumbai Central Western railway, so when it goes from Mumbai Central to Amritsar it is 12903, i.e. odd and when it comes back it is even 12904.
