Needs for Puducherry Railway Station:
From the recent developments, Puducherry has been improved very much in railways. In Lok Sabha Election' 14, who ever becomes MP, the peoples requisition should be fulfilled without any delay. Puducherry Requirements are:
* Increase the facilities of existing station like escalators, LED displays at platforms, pitline facilities, create the boundary walls around the station with security camera inorder to control the criminal activities.
*
...
Since the Food Corporation of India has accepted for cancellation of goods service, the goods service has been stopped from Feb' 14. SR has announced that the goods line will be changed to passenger line. Therefore it will help in handling atleast few daily trains in future.
* New halt station at 100 Ft Road, Mudaliarpet is a long pending demand for the rail users for years because the existing station has no proper road connectivity and many passenger couldn't able to utilize the rail. if this halt station be made, it will definitely be boon for Puducherry that helps their revenue drastically.
* ECR line - Atleast this election paves way for the connecting Puducherry & Cuddalore ?? In 2005, railway board has approved for ECR line from Chennai to Cuddalore via Mahabalipuram, Puducherry. SR officials said on its first pace, the process of preliminary survey and final survey & land acquisition for Puducherry Cuddalore section will be done. But still its in words. The recent report says the survey is completed and land acquisition for the 28 kms is over but still the construction is not yet started. This is one of the highly expected demand of Puducherry peoples. Peoples hope atleast this election paves the way for this project immediately.
* Fasten the Karaikal Peralam Line to reduce the travel time.
* Demand for more Connectivity - the rail users of Puducherry/Karaikal demands for new connectivity with the places like,
Puducherry-Coimbatore Intercity SF Express (daily),
Puducherry-Sengottai Express via Chordline,Madurai (biweekly),
Puducherry-Karaikal Intercity Express (daily),
Puducherry-Trivandrum SF Express via Combatore, Ernakulam (Triweekly),
Puducherry Kakinada Circar Express (daily),
Puducherry-Okha Express via Hyderabad (biweekly)
Karaikal-Yesvantpur link Express with 16573/74,
Karaikal-Trivandrum SF Express via Trichy, Madurai (daily),
Karaikal-Ajmer SF Express (weekly),
Karaikal-Mangalore Express via Coimbatore, Mahe.
The peoples of Puducherry & Karaikal will be very thankful to the MP who put forward all these requirements and queries inorder to facilitate the rail facilities for the UT.
