The distance b/w nearest stations Carron & Banarhat is 11.73 km.The section operates as a Single Line Block section.When the gauge conversion was done in 2003 rly estimated an avg speed of 85 kmph in this block section even though one major river bridge of Diana & few other small rivers comes in b/w.So estimated time was 8 mts 32 sec to cover the section as a result intermediate Chengmari station was removed to reduce operational cost.But now with the whole section operating as an Elephant corridor in night hours the avg running time has increased upto 14-17 mts.As a result a necessity is felt once again to revive the station to facilitate crossings.
