I have a doubt...In IR the maximum number of coaches in a train is 24 only. Then what is the use of constructing 26 coach length pitline in some of the terminals????!!!!

I'm just giving you an Example with Indian Marriages. If they Cook too much Food and it is Wasted, Then there is no problem. Just think If Food is Shortage anf there are more Guests, Then it is Problem. Likewise same here, If they construct a couple of coaches extra length. That's Good and more Comfy :-)
great!!!! and agree!!!! but what my doubt is when the length of the coach is about 24, then what is the use of 26 coach length piltline??? rather they can construct an additional pitline rit??!!!
15 coach intercity+11 coach passenger train
17 coach intercity+9 coach passenger train
18 coach Mail/Exp+ DEMU
so many combinations are possible...combinedly they'll occupy one pit line & simultaneous maintenance.

Selva thats just for flexibility to be had at workplace.Say for example if in case they need to delink a coach in between rake to do some maintenance the two sets of the entire rake shall be moved bit away from one another for sufficient gap to work comfortably. This buffer of additional 2 coach length space can be useful for the crew who do exterior cleaning/maintenance in parallel to other works standing on the PF..If that buffer space isn't there few works could be stopped. For Full Maintenance they usually take around 6 Hrs so they cannot afford time wastage. This is my perception.
How can you go for another one such short space of 2 coaches length??Pitlines are usually made parallely not one is done & next one shall start after few metres gap...
