Ideally, railways is the supposed to be a cheap mode of transport. However, I doubt whether this is true in India. While, second class travel can be considered to be cheap, 1A, 2A and 3A classes are very expensive. I think, we should focus to increase avg speed of trains first. In india majority superfast trains runs with 60 km/hr avg speed, so we need to focus to increase the speed of this trains. Also all the single tracks need to covert in to double, prioritise on the basis of traffic.
