About this train:
*******************
12261/12262 Mumbai CST-Howrah AC Duronto Express is the fastest Train of Mumbai-Howrah Route via Nagpur. It is a Rajdhani type train, in which meals are provided as the cost for the same being included in the ticket cost. Jnaneshwari Express was the only Full AC Train that used to run in the past, but now the Mumbai-Howrah route's full AC train tag goes to this Duronto Express. Being non-stop version of Rajdhani train, it takes least number of intermediate halts for technical purposes like crew change, loco change and also other reasons such food pick-up, water-filling, etc. Hence, There are no commercial halts i.e. booking can be done only for Mumbai to Howrah or Howrah to Mumbai. It shares rakes with Howrah-Pune Duronto Express, which has same timetable or run between Manmad and Howrah.
It mostly gets WAP-4 loco of Howrah (ER) shed from Howrah to Igatpuri(Technical halt) and WCAM-3 of Kalyan (CR)shed from Igatpuri to Mumbai. Sometimes, it can also be seen with WAP-4 of Sangragachi (SER) shed (Howrah-Igatpuri-Howrah)and WCAM-2/2P Kalyan (CR) shed (Mumbai-Igatpuri-Mumbai).
12261 takes 6 technical halts at Kasara, Igatpuri, Bhusawal, Nagpur, Bilaspur and Tatanagar. It takes about 7 mins at Kasara for addition of banker engine WAG7[disambiguation needed], for the run through the elevation, Igatpuri of about 15 to 20 mins for the removal of bankers and loco change of WCAM to WAP, at Bhusawal of about 5 mins for crew change. Nagpur for 10-15 mins for breakfast pick up and crew change, Bilaspur for 10 mins for lunch pick up and crew change and Tatanagar of 10 mins for evening snacks pick-up.
12262 takes 5 technical halts, being the same as that of 12261 in reverse with the exception of Kasara. The halts are at Tatanagar of 5 mins for crew change, Bilaspur for 10-15 mins for Dinner pick-up and crew change, Nagpur for 5 mins for crew change, Bhusawal of 10 mins for Break-fast pick-up and crew change and Igatpuri of 15-20 mins for Loco change.
