Buses/ MUV (shared) are available from outside the station for Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Mirik etc. There is a bus terminus there. Look for the counter to book seat.
If you're going to Kalimpong, request to give you right side window seat so that you can enjoy the terrific beauty of the road.
SGUJ station is very near to the Mahananda bridge- within walking limits.

Buses are avble from SGUJ while taxis are available from outside the NJP railway station as well as from Siliguri . Buses(mini buses really!) charge about 175 rs while the taxis charge around 275 per pax on sharing basis. However an entire Sumo can be availed for rs 2400 from outside NJP railway station. There is a huge board outside the NJP station which has the authorized taxi rates to DJ, Gangtok and Siliguri bus stand. For Darjeeling the rates are slightly less than what they are for Gangtok-around rs 2200 for an entire taxi.
