Expected Arrival 14:00 hrs at SC on Saturday and withn 45 mins, i.e at 14:45 hrs departure from SC by Pune Shatabdi Express.
Travel date is 18th Dec from Delhi and Arrival at SC next day.
How risky is the buffer W.R.T the date of travel?

Fog is the Only external factor which could play spoil sport in your party...Take a chance its up to you :)
I want to travel in that shatabdi as well as experience this Sleeper Duronto travel.
I definitely cant take a chance hence, I have an extra ticket of HYB-CSTM Express too.
But if duronto gets more than 6 hrs late that train will also be missed.
Does this duronto often get more than 6 hrs late?

Don't remember if it does that late unless its rescheduled from NZM..Anyways you have one more option that night @ SC in form of SC-LTT Duronto @ 23:05 you can get down @ Pune which is a tech halt :)
Make two reservations for Pune Shatabdi.
One for 19th and other for 20th. And on 18th morning check the Drnt and weather status, if its on time and weather expected will be clear, then just cancel the 20th reservation.
i knwo you ll lose out on some money but then its better to lose out on cancellation charges rather than losing the complete journey.
