Can a memu run with only single panto up , as in memu we see their are 3-4 pantos up at same time . THe purpose of these 3-4 panto is only quick acceleration or anything more ?

Still to my first ques. , can it run with only one panto up with good speed
Somewhere I had read that a motor coach of menu train can haul 3-4 coaches easily. probably that is why they use 3-4 motor coaches for longer trains.
A single engine is capable for a MEMU but for better acceleration,less load on couplings and reduce jerks....multiple engines used.
