I have a British Passport and want to book online for E-Ticket. For documentation, is British Passport valid or not. I have heard rumours that only Indian Passport is acceptable

Sorry the answer given to you is WRONG. You can book the ticket with your British Passport, and you have to carry it on the journey. Please check out the details on www.irctc.co.in for foreign travellers. Good wishes.
