Also, revising the departure of Kannur-Mangalore-Bangalore Daily Express(16518) in order to save the time of passengers being wasted at present. As the existing schedule consumes extra 2 hours more, the departure shall be rescheduled to 18.00hrs from Kannur, instead of 16.30hrs, to save 2 hours waiting at Mangalore Central for nothing. In return(16517) also, the time compensation at Mysore can be reduced and atleast 1 hour can be saved on both up&down journeys. So, arrival at Bangalore is possible before 7.30AM and arrival at Kannur is possible before 11AM.
For the proposed Kannur-Managalore passenger, if run between Bhatkal & Kannur via Mangalore Central, it can cater the daily office goers/businessmen between North Canara & Mangalore, as the proposed timing can be from early morning from Bhatkal and evening return from Mangalore to North Canara. Also, it will be much helpful for the Pilgrims going to Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple, as the train will be passing through Byndoor and the pilgrims can perform early morning Pujas, after reaching Mookambika at night.
The timing of Ernad express shall be revised in order to save atleast 3 hours now being wasted as time compensation between Mangalore & Nagercoil.
As per the proposals by Southern Railway, Indore-Trivandrum express(via KRCL) and Guruvayur-Trichy Intercity express(amalgamation of 2 intercity trains) are likely to be received for Kerala as new trains. Also, Ernakulam-Salem Intercity express, Punalur/Trivandrum-Velankanni expres via Kottayam, Palakkad, Pollachi, Palani, Dindigul & Trichy), Trivandrum-Bangalore express, Trivandrum-Chennai express, etc are sought by various MPs and others.
