i'm a single girl travelling from new jalpaiguri to bangalore city also my ticket is wait listed. i see very rare chances of getting the ticket confirmed and now i'm in a delimma, as to how would i travel such a long way without a seat. what shoul i do?

fine for boarding the train with a waiting list ticket? this is the first time i am travelling by train but i have heard my friend say that she travelled with a WL ticket. are the rules for boarding the train diffrent for A/C coaches?

Fully waitlisted passengers are not allowed to board any reserved compartment.
If you are find travelling, you shall be treated as of travelling without ticket, and shall be fined. You can also be asked to step out of the train and/or face criminal offence charges.

Sir once i travelled in Kerala Sampark Kranti Express with WL ticket and no one fined me. tte tole me to occupy any empty berth and then when the owner comes change.

The above is the general rule. Exceptions are always there. There has been many incidents as mentioned here where WL'ed passengers have travelled in reserved berths, where the TTE wasnt been able to do anything. However one should not take any risk. If caught, it will be a serious mess to handle.
