Hello. I am in the uk and have booked 4 seats on the 1st Ac from Mumbai to Valsad in January. I ahve booked 2 Upper and 2 Lower, but I'm not really sure what this means? It's only a 3 hour journey I think. Also, what else can I expect on the train? I understand it is a good one? This will be my mother in law's first time in India and would like her to have a good experience.
Thanks

Everyone, thank you very much. For me, i am really looking forward to it. I am an NRI and have used the indian rail on my last visit with my wife. Then we had a 14 hour journey on sleeper class and we didn;t even think about taking any bedding with us!! It was an experience, and to be honest, I was very pleasantly surprised. We also had a 3C journey which was good and then a 1AC from Jaipur to Delhi which was absolutely brilliant. The best.

Hey, Brit in Indian here, i've never been first class, but "upper" and "lower" will be your bearths, ie bunks, but as you say, its only 3 hours, and provided those 3 hours aren't in the middle of the nights the bunks will prolly be folded into chairs. the Journey is pleasant in the hustle and squeeze of the general quota, i imagine the 1st class will be even better than alot of the british trains.
