Today I tried to book a Tatkal Ticket for my brother in 18030 SHM-LTT Exp from SHM to BD for 04.05.15. While proceeding to payment, I was shocked to see that "State Bank of India" was not in the list at all. I signed out & in three times but there was no SBI listed in banks list. As I dont have account in any other bank, I could not book the ticket. Not able to understand why it happened?
Actually you missed the trick. Try out again if tickets are available.
Instead of debit card option, choose credit card option. There are many payment gateways. Choose according to your card type. For eg. if you sbi card is visa type, choose visa payment gateway of either hdfc, icici or city bank. I have good experience with hdfc gateway, so i would recommend that one.
After entering all details, it takes you to official bank verification page. You are requested to enter verification number sent on your registered mobile no. And...

Thanks for the info.. But I tried through Internet Banking and then Debit Card. I dont have a credit card. Can I use my debit card through the credit card gateway?
yes you can. thats what i am trying to say.
you can pretty much use your debit cards through credit card payment gateway.
