If you wish to take a ticket off the current reservation counter, ALWAYS pick the counter on the Paharganj side. The rush at Ajmeri Gate counterpart is multiple times of this one.

Mark this tip. Bloody useful. And the current reservation counter on paharganj side is adjacent to road flyover (almost below it). I always find it deserted.

Yes. It generally is. In fact this kinda applies to the unreserved ticket counters too.
Here's the story behind this tip. Kinda long, skip if you're busy.
This tip was posted at 7:41 PM, the time when I was running around to get a current in Magadh till ALJN. Since I got off the metro, I for once checked the Ajmeri Gate side first. The sight of a mad queue measuring 20-25 people shook my brains off.

myself down. Walked to the platform ticket counter. Invested 10 bucks. Crossed NDLS to the PG side. (As I exited, they did ask for the ticket too so the investment paid off)
From that moment to the moment when i had the ticket in my hands printed from the PG counter, hardly 5 minutes would've elapsed.
While i proceeded to the platform, I composed this tip right there and then for I'd witnessed what difference it makes to choose the right counter.
